Fall Weatherly 2022

2022 Fall Weatherly Hillclimb was held September 17-18, and was the final event of the PHA Championship Series.  And yes, we had a wedding to celebrate, held on the Weatherly hillclimb start line.  Congratulations to Crystal & Matt, and more pictures are included below.

We had perfect weather for the last event of our season.  It remained perfectly dry for once, and daytime temperatures were in the upper 70’s, low 80’s.

The battle between J. Kurt Eikenberg and Bill Feist was a fun one to watch, with Kurt taking FTD on his last run in his 1994 Cheetah SR1 that he runs in Special 1 (S1) — his best time was a 50.062.

Bill Feist was .09 seconds behind with a 50.152 in his 2006 Stohr F1000 that he runs in Formula S (FS).  Bill’s time was also an FS class record.

There were 5 other class records set in addition to Bill’s FS record.

Jeff Israel Jr took the Touring 1 record in is 86 Chevrolette Corvette with a 55.769 (beating Bill’s previous record in the car in 2017 Spring Weatherly).

Tom Wuelette beat his own Touring 3 record in his 2019 VW GTI with a  60.603.

Darryl Danko took Kurt Eikenberg’s records in Prototype 2 in his Street Cars/Bike Stohr with a 52.744.   I can’t find a picture of Darryl’s car, but when I do, I’ll update this post.

Mike Robinson beat his own record in the Super Street Prepared 04 Chevrolet Corvette with a 55.493.

Eric Johnson beat his own record in the Street Mod RWD class with a his 79 Ford Mustang, running a 55.778.

Enough about cars for a bit.  We had a wedding to celebrate at this event!  Crystal Whisler and Matt Hoegg were married on the Weatherly start line on Saturday evening.  We were all honored to be included in the ceremony and festivities!  Congratulations to Crystal & Matt!

We also had a band up at the pavilion Friday night, as well as various campfires and the normal camaraderie.

Rich Rock took this interesting photo of guys who know how to wield a broom.

I personally had a fantastic time running my backup street Scirocco, and was only .5 seconds off my best time in that car (set in 2019).  I could have used one more run!  The second  run before last I finally got turn 1 right, but messed up the rest of the course.  Then the last run, I messed up turn 1 and got the rest of the course right.  Oh well, there’s always next year!

Here’s my car back in street form, well, except for the wheels and tires.

Don McLaughlin took excellent picture as usual:

Also, his wedding photos (and yes, the bride did wear Crocs):

Wayne Domkowski once again worked a corner station (as he has done all season), and also took some incredible pictures, some which were included in this post.  He has posted samples on the PHA facebook page, and can be reached by email at bdi.black.diamond.imaging@gmail.com.  Here are some examples of his work from Fall Weatherly.
