And the hits keep on coming.
Bill Weaver passed away on July 4th at the age of 90. Our condolences go out to Judy and the family.
Bill was inducted into the PHA Hall of Fame in 1999, one of our first inductees. I did not know him well, but I knew of him, and he was always present, especially at the Reading events, when I first started. He ran a Cobra Replica in SPO the years I knew him, and generally placed well.
From Rich Rock:
Bill was a GREAT guy, always eager to help anyone, any way he could. I remember meeting him when I was just getting started 25+ years ago. At that time, he was running the Turbo T-Bird, but he told me he had a new car in the works. That car, the Cobra (Robin) was the Reading Hillclimbs poster car in 2014.
Bill hasn’t been active for a while, but when he was, he was VERY active! Among his many contributions to BMR, perhaps the most lasting are the steps from Hill Road up to Turn 7, the steps outside Turn 4 to the spectator area, the worker platform at 5, and the steps at Turn 2. Those were built, almost single-handedly, by Bill!
